Important verb Patterns

Pattern 1. Subject + verb

গরু দুধ দেয়-The cow gives milk.

আমি পড়ি -I read.

বালকটি মাঠে খেলিতেছে-The boy is playing in the field.

Pattern 2. Subject + verb + Predicate word/ Phrase।

এই বাড়িটি আমাদের - This is our house.

তার স্বপ্ন কখনও বাস্তবায়িত হবে না- His dream will never come true.
বালিকাটি চা তৈরি করে- The girl makes tea.

Patter 3, Subject+ verb+ Direct object
বৃদ্ধ নাবিক নির্দোষ পাখীটিকে হত্যা করল, The old salor killed the innocent bird.
জেরী অনেক অপ্রয়ােজনীয় কাজ করেছিল- Jerry did many unnecessary WorkS.
সে সবসময় দেরীতে রাতের খাবার খায়- He always takes his supper late.

Pattem 4. Subject+ Verb+ Indirect object + Direct object.
e presented me a pen on my birth day.
আমার জন্মদিনে সে আমাকে একটি কলম উপহার দিল-
আমি গতকাল তাকে একটি পাসেল পাঠিয়েছিলাম- Yesterclay I sent him a parcel.
তোমার বইটি কি আমাকে দিবে?- Will you give me your book?
Note: প্রাণীবাচক object কে বলা হয় Indirect object এবং বস্তুবাচক object কে বলা হয় Direct object.

Pattern 5, Subject + verb+ Direct object+ Preposition + Indirect object.
আব্বা আমার জন্যে একটি জামা কিনিলেন - Father bought a shirt for me.
আমার বন্ধু আমাকে একটি বই দিয়েছিল- My friend gave a boolk to me.
সে কখনও কাউকে কিছু ধার দেয় না-He never Jends anything to anybodly.


Pattern 6, Subject + verb + object+ Notun (complement)
আমরা তাকে চেয়ারম্যান বানালাম-\We made him chairmall.
আমরা মজলুল হককে শের-এ-বাংলা বলে থাকি- We call Fazlul Haque Sher-e-Bangla,
সে আমাকে বােকা বলল- He called me a fool.


Pattern 7. Subject+verb+ object+ Adjective (complement)
আমি চিঠিটা খােলা পাইলাম- 1 got the letter opened,
সে দরজাটি বন্ধ দেখল- He found the door closed,
চিত্রকর ছবিটিকে সাদা রংএ রঞ্জিত কাল -'The painteer painted the picture white.


Pattern ৪. Subject + Verb + Object + present participle (complement)
আমি পাখিটিকে উড়তে দেখলাম - I saw the bird flying.
সে আমাকে খেলতে দেখল- He found me playing.


Pattern 9. Subject +verb+object+Past participle (Complement)
অধ্যক্ষ সাহেব নােটিশটি টানাইয়াছিলেন - 'The Principal got the notice hung.
আমি আমার চুল কাটাইয়াছিলাম-I got my hair cut.
গতকাল আমি একটি শার্ট তৈরি করিয়াছিলাম - Yesterday Thad a new shirt made.


Pattern 10. Subject+ Verb+ Object + (to be) + Complement.
আমি তাকে বােকা বলে জানি- I know him (to be) a fool.
লােকে তাকে সৎ বলে জানে- People know him honest.
সে কখনও নিজেকে মহত মনে করিতাে না-He never considered himself great.


pattern 11. Subject+ Verb + Direct Object + Preposition + Prepositional Object
তিনি গ্রামের সবাইকে খবরটা বললেন- He told the news to everybody in the village.
শিক্ষক আমাদের সবাইকে বাড়ীর কাজ দিলেন- 'The teacher gave homework to all of us.
আমি আমার একজন বন্ধুকে আমার বইটি ধার দিয়েছিলাম- Tlent my book to a friend of mine.


Pattern 12. Subject + Verb+ Preposition + Prepositional Object.
তিনি আমার সহিত দেখা করেছিলেন- He called on me,
তার কথা কেউ বিশ্বাস করে না- Nobody believes in his words.
সে পরীক্ষায় ফেল করেছিল- He failed in the examination.


Pattern 13. Subject+verb+(not)+to-infinite (as object of the verb)
তিনি যেতে চান- He wants to go.
তিনি এখানে আসবেন না বলে ঠিক করেছিলেন- He decided riot to come here.
তিনি জনসমাজে কথা বলতে ভয় পান-He fears to speak in public.

pattern 14. Subject+verb+ Noun/ Pronoun + (not) to - infinitive.
আমি চাইনা কেউ এটা করুক- I do not want anyone to do this.
আমাকে একাজটা করতে সাহায্য করুন Please help me to do this work.
সংবা তাকে ধুমপান করতে দিতে পারি না- We can not allow him to smoke.


Pattern 15, subject + verb+ noun/ Pronoun + bare infinitive.
আমি তাকে বাইরে যেতে দেখলাম I saw him go out.
আমরা তাকে গান করতে দেখলাম- We saw him sing.
সে চোরটিকে ঘড়িটি চুরি করতে দেখল- He watched the thief steal the watch.

Pattern 16- Subject + Verb + that - clause.
আমি মনে করি বৃষ্টি হবে- I expect (that) it will rain.
আমরা আশা করেছিলাম সে কৃতকার্য হবে- We expected that he would succeed.


সে স্বীকার করল যে এ কাজটি করেছে- He admitted (that) he had done this work.

Pattern 17. Subject+ Verb + Noun / Pronoun + that - clause.
আমাকে বললেন যে, তিনি আগামীকাল ঢাকা যাবেন-He told me that he would go to Dhaka the next day.
আর হােটেল ম্যানেজারকে বললাম যে আমরা আজ বিকালে চলে যাচ্ছি- We told the manager of the hotel that we  were leaving this afternoon.
ছেলেটি আমার নিকট প্রতিজ্ঞা করল যে, সে আর কখনও এ ধরনের অন্যায় করবেনা- The boy promised to me that he  would never do such a wrong.

Pattern 18. Sub+ Verb+ Interrogative + clause.
কেউই জানে না কখন সে আসবে- Nobody knows when he will arrive.
আমি আশ্চর্য হচ্ছি সে কি চায়- I wonder what he wants.
আপনি কি বলতে পারেন তিনি কোথায় থাকেন-Can you say where he lives?

Pattern 19. Subject+ verb +Noun/ Pronoun + Interrogative + Clause.
তিনি আমাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন তুমি কোথায় গিয়েছিলে- He asked me where you had gone.
যে লােকটি গতকাল ট্রাকের তলায় চাপা পড়েছিল তুমি কি তাকে চিন?- Do you know the man who was run over by a
track yesterday?
তুমি কি চাও আমাকে বল- Tell me what you want.

Pattern 20. Subject + verb+ Interrogative + to- infinitive
আমি গাড়ী চালাতে জানি - I know how to drive.
বালকটি সাঁতার কাটতে জানে না- 'The boy does not know how to swim. ।
কি করতে হবে কিছুই বুঝতে পারছিনা- I can not understand what to do.
কোথায় ছুটি কাটাব ভাবছি- I wonder where to spend the holidays.


Pattern 21. Subject+ Verb+ Noun/ Pronoun + Interrogative + to infinite.
তিনি আমাকে শিখিয়েছেন কিভাবে দাবা খেলতে হয়- He has taught me how to play chess.)
কিভাবে কক্সবাজার যাওয়া যায় তিনি আমাকে বললেন- He told me how to go to Cox's Bazar.
কি করতে হবে আমায় বলুন- Please tell me what to do.
আমরা তাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম কোথায় টিকেট পাওয়া যায় - We asked him where to get tickets.


Pattern 22. Subject+ verb (intransitive) + to -
infinitive.
আমি তাহার বক্তৃতা শােনার জন্যে অপেক্ষা করছিলাম- I waited to hear his speech,
আমার দাদা ৯০ বছর পর্যন্ত বেঁচেছিলেন- My grandfather lived for ninety years.
একথা ভেবে আমি আশ্চর্য হয়ে গেলাম- I wondered to think it.

কয়েদীকে হাতকড়া দেওয়া হইয়াছিল-The prisoner was handcuffed.
