| Note: Either----------

rnither---------- or বা Neither ---------- nor দ্বারা একটি singular এবং একটি plural subject যুক্ত হলে

.ral -টি পরে বসে এবং verb টি Plural হয় ।

Both..............and

.w এবং মাংস দুই পছন্দ করে- Mini likes both milk and meat.

স্কো এবং মদিনা উভয়ই মুসলমানদের তীর্থস্থান- Both Makkah and Medina are the holy places for the Muslims.

পিতাপত্র দুজনই এ মামলায় জড়িত - Both the father and the son are involved in this case.

| Whether..................or

যাও কি না যাও একই কথা- It is all the same whether you go or not.

= চ কি মর তাতে আমার কিছু আসে যায় না - It matters little to me whether you live or die.

সে লেখাপড়া করে কি করে না জানিনা- I do not know whether he reads or not.

No sooner.......than/ scarcely......when/ Hardly ..........when.

আমরা স্টেশনে পৌছতে না পৌছতে ট্রেন ছেড়েছিল- No sooner had we reached the station than the train left..

শিক্ষক শ্রেণীকক্ষে ঢুকতে না ঢুকতেই ছেলেরা উঠে দাড়াল- Scarcely had the teacher entered the classroom when

the students stood up.

পুলিশ দেখা মাত্র চোরটি দৌড়িয়ে পালাল-Hardly had the thief seen the police when he ran away.

| Conditional Sentences with unreal/ unfulfilled conditions

যদি তুমি আসতে তাহলে আমি তােমাকে সাহায্য করতাম- If you had come, I would have helped you.

যদি সে আগে রওনা হতাে তাহলে সে ট্রেনটি ধরতে পারত- If he had started earlier, he could have caught the

train.

আমি যদি তুমি হতাম তাহলে একাজ করিতাম না- If 1 were you, I would not have done this work.

আমি যদি লক্ষপতি হতাম -If I were a millionaire!

আমার যদি পাখির মত ডানা থাকিত-Had I the wings of a bird!

ইচ্ছা হয়, যদি মরতে পারতাম! If I were dead!!

আমি যদি আবার শিশু হতে পারতাম - If I were a child again!

| Use of the expression of "High time'' as if" as though"

আর দেরী না করে আমাদের যাত্রা করা উচিত- It is high time we started.

আর দেরী না করে তােমার ধুমপান ছেড়ে দেয়া উচিৎ- It is high time you gave up smoking.

সে এমনভাবে কথা বলে য়েন সে সব জানে- He speaks in such a way as if he knew everything.

সে যেন একটি মাতালের মত কথা বলে- He speaks as though he were a mad.

তুমি এমন ভাব করছে যেন তুমি একজন বিশাল পন্ডিত ব্যক্তি- You act as though you were a great scholar.

Note: High time, as though, as if এর পরের verb টির past form হয়। তবে as though এবং as if এর প্রথম

অংশ Past Indefinite হলে পরের অংশ past perfect হয় ।

| Relative Clause

যে বালকটি গতকাল ট্রাকের নীচে চাপা পড়েছিল, তাকে কি তুমি চেন? -Do you know the boy who was run over by

a truck yesterday?

যে বালকটি পরীক্ষায় প্রথম হয়েছিলাে সে আমার ভাই- The boy who stood first in the examination is my brother.।

তুমি কি কাউকে দরজায় দাঁড়িয়ে থাকতে দেখেছিলে?- Did you see anybody standing at the door? |

যে দেশকে ভালবাসে সে দেশপ্রেমিক- He who loves the country is a patriot. ।

যে কলমটি আমি তােমাকে দিয়েছিলাম উহা দামী-The pen which I gave you was costly.
